DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES 

Under the supervision of the Youth Committee Chair and the Youth Director, the Youth Coordinator will  work closely with the Youth Committee, Program Directors, and other staff and volunteers to effectively oversee the logistical and overall programmatic needs of all sisters’ (Srs) youth programs, ensuring they  meet their annual goals. The Youth Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the organization’s  

integrity through the implementation of processes and projects, while also providing spiritual and  organizational leadership to the youth in collaboration with Srs youth program leads. This is a part-time  position with an average of 20 hours per week. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Collaborate with the Youth Director and sisters’ youth program leads to develop an annual timeline, organizational plans and systems to ensure all programmatic needs are met. 

2. Actively supervise sisters’ youth programs and volunteers alongside sisters’ program leads.

3. Provide mentorship and support for the spiritual growth of youth program attendees and team members by coordination with the Youth Director, Youth Committee Chair, and the Sisters’ Religious Mentor. 

4. Assist the sisters’ youth program leads by coordinating and/or supporting curriculum and activity  needs for weekly sisters’ youth programs, including but not limited to ordering supplies and food, as  well as set-up and take-down before and after sisters’ programs. 

5. Oversee social media and marketing for sisters’ youth programs in partnership with Youth Media/Communication Committee and sisters program leads. 

6. Serve as a mentor for the youth, providing guidance while connecting those in need of counseling to  appropriate resources. 

7. Must attend all sisters MVMT/youth programs and collaborate with YD on Recharge programs.  9. Support TMC Youth Summer Camp programming under the direction of the YD.  9. Expected time commitment: 20 hours per week. 

Qualifications 

1. A practicing Muslim who embodies the values and ethics of Islam, with a strong understanding of the  faith and the Muslim community in Chicago. 

2. Experience in youth development and spiritual mentorship. 

3. Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with others. 

4. Strong leadership and communication skills. 

5. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or currently pursuing a college degree. 

6. Strong knowledge of organizational and program management principles. 

7. Strong foundation in basic Islamic knowledge to help support spiritual growth of sisters youth  programs.  

Compensation 

This is a part time, salaried position, requiring 20 hours per week.
