Interfaith Book Club: “See No Stranger” by Valarie Kaur
Join The Mecca Center and the First Church of Lombard for a meaningful interfaith gathering as we come together to explore See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love by Valarie Kaur. This book club creates a welcoming space for people of all faiths to connect, share perspectives, and foster mutual understanding through thoughtful discussion.
Kaur takes readers through her powerful personal journey—as a brown girl growing up in California’s farmland, discovering her identity and place in the world; as a young adult inspired to act in the wake of post-9/11 hate crimes; as a law student working for justice in the legal system; and as an activist supporting communities affected by discrimination and prejudice. Through her experiences, she explores how love—rooted in wisdom, compassion, and courage—can be a transformative and revolutionary force. Drawing on insights from spiritual leaders, scientists, and social changemakers, See No Stranger invites us to reimagine how we relate to ourselves and one another, and how we can come together to create a more just and loving world.
