Saturday, February 3: 1-7pm Sunday, February 4: 3:30-7:30pm Multipurpose Room at the Mecca Center The Project Lina Workshop is a workshop for converts to Islam and those who wish to understand their journeys. Based on the acclaimed book by Dr. Tamara Gray. The workshop addresses issues of culture, creed and connections with family, friends and community, as attendees explore what it means to be a western convert in today’s world. The three main components of the workshop – *Know Yourself*, *Declare Independence*, and *Tend Your Ties* – are representative of some of the issues and problems Muslim converts deal with in today’s world. Workshop leader: A native of New Jersey and graduate of Rutgers University, Kiashe Pugh converted from Christianity to Islam in 1990. Since then, she has lived abroad in a number of countries, studying the sciences of Islam and ultimately earning the high honor of accreditation in formal Quranic recitation from world renowned Quranic scholar, Shaykh Abu Hasan al Kurdi, in 2003. She is a lifelong learner and teacher who encourages others to continually learn and reflect, especially on the Quran.
