The Mecca Center Youth Committee is presenting a Self Defense for Kids program every Saturday starting October 13 and running through November 10. The program is for boys and girls ages 8-12 and is held from 3pm to 4:30pm every week. Classes will be taught by certified Fit to Fight instructors with an emphasis on empowerment, confidence-boosting, self-defense techniques along with common sense tactics to ensure safety.

The Self Defense for Kids program is $125 per child and registration is required. To complete registration, you must also download and complete a program waiver and either e-mail it to 312selfdefense@gmail.com or bring it on the first day of class. The team of Fit-to-Fight certified instructors have developed a series of self defense classes solely for kids to provide an enriching, safe and unique “fighting” experience, exposing kids to Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga, sports conditioning, and more.

The team consists of Uzma Shariff, Sergio Macias, and Juan Dietz. Uzma Shariff is a certified level 2 Fit-to-Fight instructor and a blue belt in Brazlian Jiu Jitsu through Team Redzovic. She has been training in Fit-to-Fight for over 4 years and Jiu-Jitsu for 2 years. Sergio Macias is a certified level 4 Fit-to-Fight instructor. Sergio has been training in self defense for over 6 years and has over 5 years of teaching experience. Juan Dietz is a certified level 2 Fit-to-Fight instructor and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He has been training in self defense for over 6 years and has over 5 years of teaching experience.
