The Mecca Center Convert Engagement Group hosted a first of its kind event with the 1st Annual Converts Conference, “Erasing Lines: Bringing Unity to the Community,” where we brought together members of the community who are born Muslims alongside converts so we could learn from each other and explore solutions to unify our community. The day long event featured three storytellers and three speakers.

Attendees joined us from all over the Chicagoland area and a few came from further away —Indiana, Michigan, Baton Rouge, and Boston! In all, there were close to 200 in attendance. After listening and learning for the afternoon, a delicious fajita dinner was enjoyed while everyone socialized.

Our sponsors included Rabata, Guidance Residential, Al Furqaan Foundation and Ta’leef Collective without whom our event would not have been a success. Thank you to all the sponsors as well as the fabulous volunteers and staff of The Mecca Center for making this event a big hit!

We hope that you enjoy this short video capturing some of the day’s highlights. If you were unable to join us at the conference and you would like to volunteer with the Convert Group, please contact us.

If you are a convert and missed the conference, please contact us. We’re looking forward to the coming year and seeing you at exciting new programs, insha’Allah! Please visit meccacenter.org/converts to stay up to date with The Mecca Center Convert Support Group.
