Asalamu Alaikum,

As we receive new information regarding community members contracting COVID-19, The Mecca Center is cancelling Jummah prayers today (July 24) at both 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

Based on the information we have received, we have absolutely no reason to believe that theses cases came from The Mecca Center, but rather, infections very likely occurred from social gatherings outside of our center.

The Mecca Center is committed to our responsibility and obligation of being transparent in order to safeguard our families and community.

As our community is aware, The Mecca Center has taken a very proactive, conservative, and aggressive approach in instituting and upholding CDC Guidelines to curtail the virus. Please read our guidelines and learn about the expansive safety measures we are taking at meccacenter.org/reopening.

In keeping with this proactive approach, we are preventing the possibility of potential spread by canceling Eid Al-Adha prayer services, gym services, and suspending Jummah prayer services today and for at least the next two weeks (Friday, July 31 and Friday, August 7). Daily prayers, however, will continue in very limited capacity.

In cancelling our services and programs, we are reiterating the importance we place on safeguarding the health of our community. We encourage community members to live their lives beyond the walls of The Mecca Center by adhering to the necessary precautionary measures like social distancing, wearing a mask, and avoiding large gatherings.

As The Mecca Center continues to uphold the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 guidelines (cdc.gov/coronavirus), we remind and encourage our community members to also follow these guidelines to safeguard themselves, their families, and our community.

If you or any family member feel ill or have any symptoms related to COVID-19, we advise you to stay home and consult your physician.

If you or any family member have tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home and inform The Mecca Center at ghada@meccacenter.org. All communications are confidential.

Thank you for your cooperation.
